IT ALL STARTED WHEN...

Andrew and Shannon Stewart re-opened the Hope General Store almost 10 years ago. Andrew grew up in Scotland with a mis-spent youth working in and playing in pubs and restaurants around the U.K. This possibly may have lead Andrew to feature a vast selection of beers from around the world in said General Store. The next logical step, of course, was to open a pub. With two bairns in tow, the Stewart family moved down the road to the thriving yet sleepy coastal town of Camden, Maine. They bought an historic home on Elm Street, and with a little putty and a little paint, they opened a pub on the main drag in town, serving comfort food and beverages to the world.

And so, The Drouthy Bear was born from a love of traditional Scottish, Irish and British banter and food. Drouthy is a useful Old Scots word meaning thirsty or dry.

As a family-owned and community-minded buisness and in keeping with a family friendly atmosphere, patrons of all ages will find a selection of classic board games to entertain them through the long cold winter, a playground in the yard to occupy anyone under 48" during the balmy summer months and traditional live music on Wednesdays.
